This course gives students the opportunity to practice full-force on a "mock assailant" instructor in a well-padded suit. Practicing these full-force self-defense techniques, taught by a female instructor, allows our students to experience the benefits of "muscle memory" - their bodies will remember the techniques in a crisis situation. Students will gain the confidence and skills needed to feel safer in the world.

There are also more opportunities to practice using effective verbal self-defense with student's customized boundary crossing scenarios. PLUS, learn about how to be a proactive bystander when you witness others being abused or attacked.

Class is co-ed for anyone age 14 and up. Excellent for those who've already taken our Boundary Setting Workshop and want additional practice setting and maintaining personal boundaries (but not required).

    MEN'S BASICS

    SELF-DEFENSE COURSE
For Men Ages 15 and up

    Weekend Format
    Potential Date: July 23, 24, 25, 2010
    Friday 5-9pm; Sat & Sun 9am-5pm
    Course Fee: $650

The Men's Basics is taught in the same emotionally supportive environment as our Women's Basics but with a focus on how men are attacked. This course includes verbal self-defense and de-escalation and physical self-defense. Full-force, realistic self-defense techniques are practiced on padded mock assailants. The realistic scenarios allow students to fight in an adrenalized state so that they can practice working through the natural "freeze response" that occurs when attacked.

This 18-hour self-defense course for men and teen boys is usually only offered every other year by IMPACT Bay Area. We offer this course only as students request it. If we have enough interest and potential registrants we will book this class for the July dates listed above. If not, we will need to wait until 2011 to host a Men's Basics Self-Defense class. So, let us know if you want to be added to the Men's Self Defense Class interest and contact list. Send an email to: info@impactbayarea.org
