LGBTQ Basics - Empowerment Self-Defense Course

The curriculum in our LGBTQ course differs from that of our self-identified women's courses in some key ways. As members of the LGBTQ community are more likely to be assaulted by multiple assailants, this course covers physical self-defense against a single, unarmed assailant as well as an introduction to self-defense against multiple assailants. Due to the increased legal risks for QTPOC and non-binary individuals who use physical self-defense, there is more emphasis in this course on deescalation, bystander intervention, community resources, and verbal strategies to increase safety.
