Shine is IMPACT's annual spring fundraiser on the first Saturday in May. This year our Shine! Mug-a-Thon event takes place on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 1:00PM at our Training Center in Oakland, California.

All money raised by Shine 2010 will go to our scholarship fund. IMPACT is committed to making sure that all women can take our classes, regardless of financial situation, and our scholarship fund provides us a way to do this.

At the Shine! Mug-a-Thon, IMPACT alumni and friends come together to raise money to support IMPACT Bay Area. For each $100 in donations raised, IMPACT alumni receive a practice fight. The more money you raise, the more practice fights you get.

It's an Open House! - you do not have to raise money to come by, watch the graduate fights, learn a few moves and see our new space. We invite all to come and be a part of the celebration and our Impact community. Bring your friends and family to support men and women fighting back to stop violence and sexual assault.

INCENTIVE PRIZES for FIGHTERS

• Raise $400 in sponsorships - get a free "Caution, I Kick Like a Girl" or other slogan T-shirt
  
• Raise $700 in sponsorships - get a T-shirt & a $200 off coupon for a Weapons, Multiples or other Upper Level IMPACT Class (for self or other grad)
  
• Raise $1000+ in sponsorships - a Free T-shirt AND a $300 off coupon for Basics or Upper Level IMPACT Class (for self, friend or other grad)
  
• ** The Basics CLASS that raises the most in sponsorships/donations (min. of $1500 total) gets a free Fight Night in 2010 for up to 10 classmates (or other grads). (Fight Night is 2 hours of practice fighting with a whistle and suit instructor team).

Graduates will be "fighting for funds!" -- specifically our depleted scholarship fund so that every woman or girl who wants to take a class can, regardless of their ability to pay.

I have a friend who is interested in IMPACT. Can she/he come to Shine?
Of course! Shine is perfect for introducing IMPACT to people who haven't yet taken our classes. You are encouraged to bring friends to cheer you on during your practice fights. The general public is also encouraged to come and take the FREE Co-Ed Personal Safety Workshop from 3-4pm.

• 12:00 NOON Registration Begins for Graduate Fighters.
  
• 1:00 - 3:00 PM FREE Public demonstration of our techniques for friends, family, and community partners.
  
• 3:00 - 4:00 PM FREE Co-Ed Intro to Personal/Street Safety Workshop for ages 6 and up

If you'd like to contribute to our scholarship fund, send a check and mark it either "Shine" or "Scholarship fund." You can also make an online donation. Any amount helps! And of course, tell your friends and family about IMPACT! These are skills that every woman needs to have.
