Help Me Empower Others through IMPACT
I found IMPACT like many people do – through a friend. She urged me for months to take a class, saying that it would be life changing. When I took the Basics course in 2016, I finally understood what she meant. IMPACT taught me that I am powerful and strong. To this day, the skills I learned help me feel safe and confident, and it also has strengthened my ability to set healthy boundaries in my professional and personal life. This is something that I don’t take for granted. Although my Basics class was almost three years ago, I still hear my classmates cheering me on when I’m in tough situations. It’s a powerful feeling. It is this experience that has fueled my commitment to support IMPACT in reaching more people because I think everyone deserves to feel this way.
IMPACT is a non-profit organization, and this work is only possible because of the generosity of our supporters. You make it possible for us to offer our life-changing classes and to extend our reach in this community. From our donations last year, we were able to
- Offer 157 classes, an increase of 55% from the previous year
- Teach 1,845 students, an increase of 63% from the previous year
- Award over $32,000 in scholarships, which supported 38% of women and 77% of LGBTQ students in our Basics courses
- Strengthen our community by hosting our first ever Alumni Reunion event
- Train five new suited instructors to help us offer more classes throughout the year
We are very proud of these accomplishments, but we aren’t finished yet! In 2019, we hope to offer even more classes for at-risk communities we have yet to reach. We also hope to create more opportunities to connect our alumni, partners, and supporters to our efforts. Personal safety and empowerment has a unique ability of connecting people. Together, we will be able to accomplish great things to advance personal safety in our neighborhoods.
