Help me empower others through IMPACT
I found IMPACT like many people do – through a friend. She told me it would be life-changing, but I didn’t take the class until I moved to San Francisco from the south bay and my husband had an unfortunate encounter on Muni. Hoping I could feel safe again, I took the Women of Color’s Basics Self-Defense Course, and I wish I had taken the class earlier!
IMPACT recognizes that people’s experience with personal safety is different. Feeling safe would mean different for the LGBT community, women of color, or teens. I’m so glad I was able to take the class with other minority females who share similar childhood trauma and are limited by cultural upbringings in one way or another. I only expected to learn about self-defense techniques before the class, but I walked out feeling empowered from so many aspects of my life. Now I finally have the courage to set healthy boundaries with families and friends and speak up when I see wrongdoing.
Safety is a right, not a privilege. I wish more people could have this transformative experience with IMPACT, regardless of their financial situation. Please help me raise $1K, and I’ll match all donations up to $1K!
